Matt, Rman crosscheck will only expire those backups that belong to that node during the RMAN crosscheck. This statement does not belong in the manual, I am glad that you pointed this out. There is no need for your DBA's to be concerned that other data is needlessly getting expired.

Our DBAs were understandably a bit concerned having seen this and would like some clarification, since they use crosscheck as part of their backup expiration/deletion scripts. It seems to indicate that the crosscheck command will expire Oracle backups for ALL our nodes backing up to a given TSM server, although i'm sure this can't be the case. I presume that this is true only if you don't specify the TDPO.opt file during deletion script? Can anybody confirm or refute this as it's not very clear and it's a alarmed our DBAs somewhat TIA Matt Thomas Storage Support - Open Systems ITSD Service Introduction > * internal 7-430-3213 > * external 020-7922-3213 > * e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] > --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regards, Neil Rasmussen Software Development TDP for Oracle [EMAIL PROTECTED]
