According to the training manuals for TSM 4.X and 5.X, you should not have more than 12 DB volumes. Yet we have 16, and at one point we had 32 and saw no performance degradation. There seems to be no end to the debate on this issue. We are on AIX 4.3.3 and have been with this config from 4.2.X up to 5.1.6.2.

We have been running this way from all v 4.1 up to v 5.1.6. Another TSM manager told me that there should be a maximum of 16 DB volumes. They said that there could be more but that they had heard that there is system degradation if one was to use more that 16 DB volumes. Has anyone else heard of this. It was new to me and I was just wondering what the situation was. Thanks -- Phillip Ford Senior Software Specialist Corporate Computer Center Schering-Plough Corp.
