In our experience, Wintel hardware/software just cannot push I/O through like our RS6K hardware running AIX. That may be in large part due to the fact that Win32 seems to be the limiting factor, so Linux on Intel may be ok, but we see generally at least 2x the I/O thruput on the AIX boxes vs. NT.
