Hi, can anyone help.... Overnight we backup a 13 gigabyte Oracle database via rman, this runs with 2 channels but takes 5.5 hours, recently we did a restore of this database as a test for DR, the restore took only 20 minutes using 2 channels! During the backup, the client is CPU bound and does not page... 00:00:01 %usr %sys %wio %idle 00:05:01 26 53 0 21 00:10:01 27 72 0 1 00:15:00 27 72 0 1 00:20:00 26 73 0 1 00:25:01 26 73 0 1 00:30:00 26 73 0 1 00:35:01 26 73 0 1 00:40:00 26 73 0 1 Comm Method is TCPIP over a gigabit network. When you look at the 2 sessions for the channels on the TSM server the data seems to be sent from the client in 1 meg blocks and the server is in recw for at least 13 seconds per 1 meg block. The client that the Oracle database runs on is AIX 4.3.3.0 ML9 running TDP Version 2.2.0.2, Oracle version 8.1.7 (64 bit)
The TSM server is AIX 4.3.3.0 ML9 Command Line Administrative Interface - Version 4, Release 2, Level 1.0 (C) Copyright IBM Corporation, 1990, 2001, All Rights Reserved. Session established with server UKTSM0: AIX-RS/6000 Server Version 4, Release 2, Level 1.7 Thanks in anticipation _________________________________________________________________ Surf the Web without missing calls!
