We set it to 5 for servers that have the cpu/memory/os capable of handling multiple concurrent backup streams, and leave it at 2 for those that are borderline. For a beefy machine with multiple filespaces, setting it higher will definitely improve backup elapsed times. But it can put a big strain on smaller machines.
