Hmm look at this
ANR7864W (AIX) Unable to write volume file name. Explanation: The server was attempting to create a file with the indicated name. The server was able to partially write to the file before running out of space. System Action: The server continues processing. The file creation request fails. The file is still present on the system. User Response: Specify a new file name where there is sufficient space. Ok this is what you gotta do. go to the filesystem /bfaa1dk3 and issue the rm command on the file you where trying to create. Then try to reissue the command and try a smaller volume this time just try like 2 mb size, if it works then you know that the problem is your size, del the 2mb volume and reissue ther rm command on the 2mb file and try creating a real vomume next. be sure you have enugh space for the file on your filesystem. That should take care of it. Hope this helps pete out :-) Kvedja/Regards Petur Eythorsson Taeknimadur/Technician IBM Certified Specialist - AIX Tivoli Storage Manager Certified Professional Microsoft Certified System Engineer [EMAIL PROTECTED] Nyherji Hf Simi TEL: +354-569-7700 Borgartun 37 105 Iceland URL: http://www.nyherji.is -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Michelle Wiedeman Sent: 18. september 2002 12:01 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: create additional diskpool in adsm3.1 on AIX problem hi pétur! thnx for your reply, the message im getting is ANR7864W Unable to write volume /bfaa1dk3/bf I created a logical volume and filespace named /bfaa1dk3 which resides on 1 harddisk of 10GB. there is aprox 8672MB freespace. What commands are you running, Is there enough space for the file, and most importantly what is the error code you receive when you run this command? It then formats and uses the space assigned. Now m,y problem is creating additional diskvolumes within adsm 3.1. I,ve tried doing this the same way, but it gives error. I.ve tried then to create a filespace for it, but it didnt quite grasp that either. I cant really find any usefull documentation on this and its really important that its done today....please help and receive my undieing gratitude!! ;o) mi©helle
