We had the identical problem with Win2K app server running a demographic database for our marketing department. It was early enough in the build that we blew it away, reinstalled Win2k and installed TSM 4.2 BEFORE we installed the database app and had no problems. We did the install from the local CD and if you look up the error in TechNet all it talks about is doing an install over the network to terminal services. I recomend rebuild the client if you can.
