To transmit 1TB a day is going to take some big pipes.

Subject: Remote IBM Magstar 3494 Library

Hi everyone!
This is what we have:
- Two remote sites ( Atlanta and Miami).
- Two TSM v4r2l1.9 servers on AIX 5.1, one on each
site.
- Each TSM server has a serial connected IBM Magstar
3494 Library, with FC attached 3590 E tape drives,
through Brocade 2800 switch.
- Each TSM server backing up its local clients over
the LAN, for over 1 TB daily each.
- Each TSM server ejecting daily over 30 K tapes to be
sent to the off-site vault.

This is what we want:
- Have each site as off-site tape vault for the other.
- Remote connect each site library over the WAN,
through brocade switches, and FCIP CNT UltraNet
Storage Router.
- Make a remote copy pool for each TSM server, and
start making the off-site tapes in the remote TSM server/library.

Questions:
* Does anyone has implemented a similar solution?
* Any bad or good experience doing this?
* Any thing to take into consideration before starting
this project?

Any input is appreciated.
Manuel Sanchez
