How about if I have pre-defined the tape library sharing feature for the 2
TSM Servers in the 2 sites? So when both TSM Server instances run on the
same machine, I can activate the tape library sharing features so one act
as the Library Manager and the other as Library Client?

Theoretically seems ok to me, but the operation looks complex, anyone has
implemented this similar config?

Best Regards,

Molly Pui

You would have to partition the library and in the case of a 3583 you
cannot partition the library. If you had a 3584, then you could
logically partition the library giving each TSM server some cartridge
slots as well as some tape drives.

Hi all,

Based on the following discussion, I'm interested to know, if both TSM
Servers (say in 2 separate sites) have attached to a tape storage pool,
eg
each has it's own LTO 3583 library.
When one of the site crash, then I restore the TSM DB to another machine
on
the other site, so now both TSM server instances run on the same machine
and has only 1 library, will the solution work in anyway?

Thanks.

Molly Pui

Christian,
there is no problem to run two TSM servers on one machine. You can have
on
both machines installed two TSM servers (one active and
second inactive but ready to use in case of fail).
Then, when one of them fail, you can restore its database (from latest
backup) on second machine and run both servers simultaneously.
Or you can backup TSM database on each other via server-to-server
configuration.
Another question is if you need to automate this proces. Probably the
best
solution would be to use cluster (if it is possible, as I do not know
your
platform, servers location and so on).

Hope this helps

Hi at all ...
I have a technical question and I try to explain in good form.
If I have a 2 servers with TSM, for example TSM1 and TSM2. The server
TSM1
make a backups a one group of server "GROUP1" and TSM2 make a backups a
other group "GROUP2". My cuestion is: In case of fail the TSM1 is
posible
perform a backup a GROUP1 with the other server of tsm "TSM2" with the
same
tsm database of TSM1. Is possible to have a two databases in one tsm
server
and active or inactive each one in different times ?

If not possible the are any altenative or make this in other way.

Thank you very much for theirs help !!!
