7.5.3 Netfinity systems
The IBM 3584 UltraScalable tape library can be attached to Netfinity
systems
supporting Microsoft Windows NT 4 with service pack 6 or Windows 2000
operating systems and the following adapter:
? Wide Ultra2 SCSI PCI Adapter (#33L5000)
7.5.4 Intel-based systems
The IBM 3584 UltraScalable tape library can be attached to systems
supporting the Microsoft Windows NT 4 with Service Pack 6 or Windows 2000
operating systems and the following adapters:
? Adaptec 29160 LVD SCSI adapter
? Adaptec 39160 LVD SCSI adapter (VHDCI connector)
? Adaptec AHA-2940U2W Ultra2/Wide LVD SCSI adapter
? Symbios Logic SYM22910 64-bit PCI-to-Ultra2/SCSI Dual Channel Host
Adapter (LVD)
? Netfinity 33L5000 Ultra2 adapter
? Adaptec AHA-2944UW PCI-to-Ultra Wide Differential SCSI Adapter (HVD)
About cabling and interposer:
7.6 SCSI cabling
A SCSI cable is required for each server connection to a SCSI bus; you can
have up to 12 SCSI busses per IBM 3584 library frame. One host SCSI cable
should be specified on the initial order for each host attached; a
terminator
and 0.5m drive-to-drive cable are supplied with each drive. An interposer
(a
connector which matches the pin pattern of the host adapter to the pin
pattern
of the cable) may also be required for attachment to certain server
adapters.
7.6.1 Cables
One SCSI differential terminator and a 0.5m drive-to-drive cable are
included
with each tape drive ordered (feature #1454 LVD or #1455 HVD). The 0.5m
drive-to-drive cable is designed to add drives on a single bus; it is not
suitable
to connect drives to the host systems.
Additional SCSI cables are available as optional features on the IBM 3584
for
both LVD and HVD attachment to host adapters. The cables can be used with
an HVD Ultra SCSI bus or LVD Ultra2 SCSI bus.
The following cables have an HD68 connector on each end:
? Feature #5305, 5m (16.5 ft) universal SCSI cable
? Feature #5310, 10m (33 ft) universal SCSI cable
? Feature #5318, 18m (60 ft) universal SCSI cable
? Feature #5325, 25m (82 ft) universal SCSI cable
The following cables have VHDCI connectors at the host end and HD68
connector to the drive:
? Feature #5604, 4.5m (15 ft) universal SCSI cable
? Feature #5610, 10m (33 ft) universal SCSI cable
? Feature #5620, 20m (66 ft) universal SCSI cable
? Feature #5625, 25m (82 ft) universal SCSI cable
7.6.2 Interposers
An interposer is required to connect host adapters that do not have HD68
connectors to the SCSI cables. The following chargeable features supplying
interposers are available:
? Feature #2895 interposer to connect AS/400 adapter #6501
? Feature #5099 interposer to connect a Mini-68 pin VHDCI connector to the
68 pin HD68 connector on the SCSI cable. This interposer (0.3m cable)
has a male Mini-68 pin VHDCI connector on one end and a female 68-pin
HD68 connector on the other.
