We have a L700 silo used by TSM on AIX and had it upgraded to the maximum
number of slots it will take about 8 months ago.

>From what I remember I think what David says below is correct although it
was quite some time ago. If that doesnt work then the most we would have
done would have been to stop TSM, delete the lb0 TSM device in AIX, recreate
the lb0 device and then start TSM. We did not need to do anything with the
tapes during the process. If you do recreate the lb0 device you should be
able to use lbtest to report how many slots the library is reporting.

I believe all that is necessary when upgrading slots on a library
is to halt and restart TSM server and it picks up new config.
I have done this when upgrading am IBM 3575 library.

You have to re-create the library
- checkout libvols remove=no
- delete library
- create library
- checkin libv

Subject: Not able to use additional cartridge slots

Good morning,

TSM 4.1.4 running on AIX 4.3.3

I recently upgrade my StorageTek L700 tape library
slot capacity from 216 to 384. When I tried to add
tapes beyond the old storage space, I was getting
ANR8314E Library is full message. Does any one know
how to make TSM to recognize and use the new slots?

TIA
