If it is a primary pool tape you just do a RESTORE VOLUME command on the TSM Server. The current tape will get marked destroyed and the data will actually go to other tapes in the pool from your copypool.
If it is a copy pool tape, just do a DELETE VOLUME DISCARDDATA=YES. The next time you run a BACKUP STG command to the pool it will recreate the data from the primary disk and tape pools involved.
