I have 3584 with (8) FC-AL drives. Delivered 4 months ago with 18N2
firmware. After started using library, occasionally got error on library
(/dev/smc0) and drive1 - never on any other Drives. Would leave tape
in drive. IBM Tucson says has seen this problem at other sites.
Recommended upgrading to 22UD. IBM rep did so and then was just
getting write errors on this one drive. IBM replaced drive. Workign much better for
over one week but got one errror over weekend. Will monitor
further.
TSM server 4.2.1.10 on AIX 4.3.3 ML09 with Atape 6.1.9.0.

I was using 3584 with 16E0 firmware. It always caused I/O error and made all
the tape drives offline.
I upgraded to 22U0, it worked fine a 4 weeks. But the same problem happened
again last week.

What errors do you experience? Is there any pattern?
We are implementing right now TSM with 3583 for a customer and are
upgrading drives from 18N2 (known bad for TSM) to 22UD. Several people on
the list wrote 22U0 works fine but now 22UD is on the site. On the first
tests it run fine but we are at the start point still so cannot say more.

downloaded from the IBM Website anymore. IBM upgraded one
of my client's drives (4 of them) to level 22UD. I now get
I/O errors after a tape gets mounted.
