In my mind TSM make "load balancing" when it have different volumes. I'm pretty sure of that with disk storage pool. I don't know for DB Volume. So, for me you should create on volume by physical disk to avoid disk contention.

Is it better to create one db volume sized at 33gb on 2 disks, and mirror it on the others, or should you create 2 16.5gb db volumes on each 36gb disk and mirror those on the other 2 disks?
