Folks, STORServer, Inc. is considering hosting the US version of the TSM Symposium in late September/early October here in Colorado Springs, CO. As you know, this symposium has been offered in odd numbered years at the University of Oxford.
To boost the appeal of this we will offer our Level 1 course before Symposia and the Level 2 course after it. The days of the event will be Wednesday afternoon through Friday early afternoon. This will be a highly technical symposium with a number of tracks to follow. We will invite the best TSM expertise we can find to educate and inform. Finally, there will be a number of exhibitors showing their wares. The projected cost to each attendee is around $1000 USD. This does not include lodging or travel but does include meals. We will offer discounts for multiple attendees from the same corporation as well for folks attending the optional TSM training classes that we offer. This event is NOT to be a money making event for STORServer, nor do we want to lose money either! We will enlist the help of a professional event planner to put the on the event. After all, we're TSM experts not Symposia experts. (only Sheelagh is both!). What I need from all of you is the following: Are you interested in attending such an event and will your company pay for you to attend? YES NO Will you take advantage of the Level 1 or Level 2 training before and after the event? YES NO (The Level 1 course will be held Monday-Wednesday morning before the Wednesday afternoon event starts, and the Level 2 course will be taught the following week Monday-Thursday. Details of these classes can be found on our website. These courses will be heavily discounted for symposium attendees as our goal is to provide additional value to the travel costs you will incur and in keeping with the non-profit nature of the event). I know that everyone will want to be here for this, but I really need to know who will actually be able to attend! We need between 250 and 300 attendees to make a go of this. We really want to do this but can't do it if the economics don't work. The overall economy in the US may make this unfeasible but we'll do the best we can. Once we determine this is going to work we'll solicit all of you for input on speakers and topics. During the Oxford Symposium last year and the one in 1999 some of us US folks hoped to host one here. This is our chance. Please respond privately to me if you will attend. The results of this survey are very important to our decision making process. I will ask Sheelagh Treweek to post the url to last fall's symposium for you to get an idea of what was presented there.
