I am inheriting an HP box that houses an SAP/Informix database. We use a 3494 library with 3590E tape heads. We are at ADSM server 3.1.2.90 (on AIX 4.3.3) but will upgrade to TSM 4.1. What are my options for backing up a 115GB SAP/Informix database? HP-UX 10.20 Informix Version: 7.23.UC3
I am not familiar with Informix. I see some old posts that mention Informix does not know how to deal with a tape library. Our DBA staff recommends against using OnBar. I also see a tool called OnTape, but that expiration does not work with Ontape. I also see where some shops backup to disk, then have ADSM backup the backup. I will not have this much disk space to work with. These were OLD posts, so I am hoping there are some new options... I will have downtime available to backup this box. Thanks, --Debbie
