First I have to warn you that am completely unfamiliar with CommonStore and had not yet opportunity to experiment with TDP for Oracle (I suspect your SAP uses Oracle). But I was able to cheat TSM client (and TDP for Domino, Informix) very easily: 1. created new directory and symbolic links for client binaries there 2. made brand new dsm.sys and dsm.opt 3. set in user's profile "export DSM_DIR=/usr/tivoli/newdir" and "export DSM_CONFIG=/usr/tivoli/newdir/dsm.opt" 4. run dsmc, dsmdomc, onbar with no problems
You can try instead of this "another client" setup just to put two SERVER stanzas in dsm.sys and point to them in two different dsm.opt files setting only DSM_CONFIG in different sessions. It doesn't look like I can use 2 TSM servers from the documentation that I have seen so far. -What impact will the Commonstored objects have on the TSM DB? Is there a one-to-one mapping or can X CommonStore objects be represented as 1 TSM object through some internal commonstore DB? I am looking for advice regarding the TSM DB growth. -IBM has sold our customer a solution that stores the data directly to optical storage. Any comments? Are you using a disk pool first or are you storing directly to optical storage and/or tape? -Anyone got any better documentation then the manual?
