The 4.2.1.15 client works for me on XP (Professional) in polling mode. Is your TSM server configured to support polling?
What do dsmsched.log and dsmerror.log show from the time you started the scheduler service? One test you can do is to set up a test schedule for the problem node, set SCHEDMODE to POLLING, then start the client scheduler in the foreground via the command: dsmc sch Does the polling seem to work? (Assuming it does, you don't need to let the scheduled event run to completion.) I am installing TSM client 4.2.1.15 on a Windows XP machine (which had no previous TSM client), but the scheduler does not work if schedmode=polling. The service is started, the client is defined to the server and associated with a schedule, but it misses it's schedule. When I changed schedmode to prompted, I did get a backup. Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong? If you do not do this, then some of the files will not be updated "in place", and you will be prompted to reboot in order to pick up the changes. As to the performance problem, there are no other changes you need to make to make it work, except, that in general, you should always avoid using LARGECOMMBUFFERS YES on Windows Regards, Andy Andy Raibeck IBM Software Group Tivoli Storage Manager Client Development Internal Notes e-mail: Andrew Raibeck/Tucson/IBM@IBMUS Internet e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked. This fixtest appears to also fix the RC 4 probem and the performance problem. Can you tell us a little more about the performance problem fix. Are there any changes that we might want to look at besides installing the fixtest. PS in the readme file it says that for an uninstall of the client, one should stop the tsm services first. Should this also be done if doing an upgrade. An upgrade from 4.2? Many thanks for this update. len
