You can check to see if your drive mapping is correct by mounting a tape in the drive and executing the following from your shell.
tar -tvf /dev/rmtx If it returns a block size error, or even gives you a list of files, your mapping is correct. If it times out with a "not ready" type of message, mapping may not be correct or maybe the drive just isn't talking. Good luck.
