Try this:
        MOVE MEDIA volume STG=stgpool WHEREST=MOUNTABLEN

That should make the tape a scratch.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

BTW, We've gotten into this whole "MOVE MEDIA" situation because we've
outgrown our ATL P3000 library.  So, we have a new HP 20/700 on the floor,
in the final stages of testing... upgrading to 4.1 was one of the steps.

Try this command:

move media * stg=archlog_tape wherestate=mountablenotinlib
wherestatus=empty

Thjis should only take a few seconds.  Lokk in actlog to see that it worked
correctly.  Tape should bve "Scratch" after this.  (NOTE: not sure what
happens  if tape is actually in library, we do this for tapes out of
library.)
Double check, may have to manually move tape out and check back in
as scratch.
