I had this probelm as well.
You need to specify the filesystem this way --
/export/nim/mksysb/sysbkp/selective/*
Try that to see if it works.

ANS1804E Selective Backup processing of
'/export/nim/mksysb/sysbkp/selective' finished with failures.
but backup finished without failures. is this serious to notice ?
