The early period in another IBM tape technology...  We went through
a lot of the same pain in the early days of 3590 and 3570.  It's
like the product development team goes on to do other things and
random other people are assigned to long-term product support, and
the inexperience and relative unfamiliarity with the technology is
evidencing itself.  IBM could be doing a lot better than this,
given their more than 50 years of tape technology.
