I have been asked to move a departmental system into our central Spectrum
Protect backup system. The departmental system is running an open-source backup
product called Bareos, which is a fork of Backula. Anybody done anything like
this?

I assume there is no practical way to simply import the Bareos database and
backup tapes into Spectrum Protect. Nice if we could, but I doubt it would be
possible.

The biggest pitfall I see is that it is not just doing backups, but also
archives. The backups are easy - we start backups to Spectrum Protect, and then
keep Bareos going for restores only for the duration of the promised restore
window, and then just stop running Bareos. The archives will be harder. Any
ideas for moving archived data between backup systems? How have you dealt with
file name-space collisions in a temporary restore strategy of archived data?

They are, of course, in a hurry.

I have not lost my mind -- it is backed up on tape somewhere.
