1 - the wrong stanza was edited There was only one stanza using lanfree on the host, the other (b/a backup) always used lan-based backups, I checked that at least 3 times and my colleague looked over my shoulder because I felt like I was going a bit crazy. ;-) 2 - DSM_DIR is set and the wrong dsm.sys file is edited I searched the entire machine, al dsm.sys files are links to the same file that was edited, all have * in front of all lanfree components. 3 - there's another machine also configured to use that nodename This appears to be it because the fqdn I see in the messages resolved to a different server that I know nothing about. Maybe they have something standby that is connecting using the same nodename. The other server also has an IP that's not on the server that I migrated. :-) Thanks for this, I was a bit stuck thinking it had to come from the same machine! Sometimes you just need a little nudge in the right direction, so thanks again.
