Richard,

You could use transaction logging in "circular" mode.
You won't be able to use transaction logging in
"archival mode" unless you have a product that will
back up the filled log files. TDP for Domino does
this now for Windows, AIX, Solaris, and S/390 USS.

We have heard the request for TDP for Domino on AS/400.
We know about the requirement. It is under consideration
and evaluation but I cannot give any more details than that
at this point in time.

BRMS has a Domino backup solution, but I don't believe
it does backup of transaction logs yet...you may want to
talk with the BRMS team or have your Tivoli/IBM rep
find out that information for you.

The best thing I can tell you is to feed this info to your
Tivoli/IBM representative so they can add your request as
another customer that would like TDP for Domino on AS/400.

Thanks,

Del

Subject: TSM, Domino, Transaction Logging, AS400

We are merging with a company that uses IBM AS400 for their Notes
server. It's looking like the combined company may standardize on
the AS400 for this function. Neither company uses Domino transaction
logging, which means we're both doing full backups every night. The
Notes merger team is looking at transaction logging as a possible
option.

I went looking for TDP for Domino for AS400, and . . . .
found that there is no product like this!!! This is very strange
given that IBM is pushing the AS400 as a Domino server platform.

Q) Can you use Domino transaction logging, and still backup without
a TDP Domino agent?

Thanks

Rick
