I have run into this alot, and it took me hours to figure out what i was
doing.
(I wasn't running the command as root :)

        It sounds like the 'nohup' command on Solaris 8 now behaves the
same
as AIX 4.3.3. It is looking for additional input from stdin. Try this and
see if it works :
nohup /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmc sched -pass=<password> >/dev/null
2>&1 </dev/null &

        the "</dev/null" is the only significant change.
