Angelica, Our procedure for IPLing or powering down the AS/400 is basically the same as you describe. We end all of the active applications and then power the system down. When the system is re-IPLed, the startup job is allowed to complete and then the TSM server is brought up manually. We have found that this works the best for us. Hanley, First of all, thanks for your soon answer, About our problem, in one of the cases that we did the ipl, this happened, one tape drive unit that is damage was disable on the AS/400 and turn off, we change the status on the AS/400 and turn it on and the TSM server start after a couple of tries. But not allways is the case. We thought, one of the reasons was, the command at the ipl start program maybe was wrong and making the log file get corrupt, we change it, prove it in a independent program, and the tsm starts ok; but aftert that we wrote those lines on the start ipl program and it didnt work, the tsm server doesnt start automaticaly and the tsm present some error message at the console, once appears this : ANR8420E INITIALIZE SERVER: An I/O error occurred while accessing drive TAP02. ANR9999D DSMSERV/QCSRC/MMS(1807): Unable to load MMS configuration. twice appears that the log file was corrupt. How can we be sure that this wont happen again, and this log file dont get corrupt or that the tsm wont appear with a new error message. In your experience, which is the steps that you follow when you want to shut down the as400 and make an ipl. We stop the tsm server manually, and then program a control shut down of all the jobs, services that are working on the as400, and start the server right now manually. Thanks for all your help Ing. I have run into something similar a couple of times. In each case, the tape drive that was assigned to TSM was either varied off, had become damaged, or did not exist when I tried to bring up the TSM server. Once the device was varied on and operational, the TSM server started OK. I am not sure if this is the same type of thing that you are experiencing but I hope this is of some help.
