Christian

I am using TDP for SQL Server v1.1.2. If you have a valid license, this is
available from
ftp://index.storsys.ibm.com/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/tivoli-data-protection/ntsql/1.1.2
The minimum system requirements are NT Server v4.0 SP4 and SQL Server v7.0 SP1.

I would definitely recommed using the TDP agent. The alternative for me would be
to perform scheduled backups to disk using the SQL Server Agent. These would
then have to be backed up to TSM during the file system backup performed by the
normal Windows Backup/Archive client.

This effectively doubles the amount of disk space required by the database and
means the backup is not secured away from the system until both stages have been
completed.

TDP for SQL Server v2.2 has the advantage of being able to perform differential
backups, which the v1.1 agent cannot do. With v2.2, you will have to upgrade to
at least SP2 for SQL Server.

Good luck

Hello Neil, Thank you for your response.
If doesn't have a soft, how do you perform the backup today ?

That you recommend me to do backup to a configuration like that?
Than you very much !!

Christian

We too use SQL Server 7.0 on NT 4.0 as our SAP platform.

I believe that TDP for R/3 is only for Oracle platforms, not SQL Server.

We rely on TDP for SQL Server v1.1 to perform backups of our SAP databases.
Version 2.2 was released last month. I have been desperately trying to get
hold
of it but have been unsuccessful.

Although the code is not available for download, the documentation can be
found
at
http://www.tivoli.com/support/storage_mgr/pubs/v1_pdf/mssql/v2/ab5m1mst.pdf
.
This states the minimum requirements are NT 4 SP4 and SQL Server 7 SP2, so
you
should be OK.
