1. I don't like to mask out errors. Yes they are sometimes a nuisance, but when you
need them it can be useful tool, and it's not like they take up gigabytes.

2. The cleaning errors are the simplest way to see how cleaning is going on in
library. (*SM doesn't necessarily show them in actlog with auto clean on library).
errpt | grep CLEAN will show you how often each drive is being cleaned and
therfore for instance, if a drive is being cleaned more often than the others.

3. Not all tape/drive errors show up in *SM actlog and therefore errpt is not a
useless duplicate of actlog but a complement.

I corrected the AAAx output by using the errupdate and errinstall parts of
the Atape installation procedure.

I am wondering though if these errors are normal, does that mean that they
are nothing to worry about and that I should alter the error template to
turn logging of these errors off.

Does anyone know if there is ever cause to pay attention to these errors?

Should I perhaps also do this for the TAPE_DRIVE_CLEANING errors logged as
the tape library is dealing with this itself?

Regards

Brian Murphy
