Thierry,
For doing on-line backup and restore of Lotus Domino R5
servers you MUST have an R5 "compliant" product. That is,
you must have a product that uses the backup/restore
APIs provided by Lotus. TDP for Lotus Domino is R5 compliant.
If you take "online" backups without using an R5 compliant tool,
you run the risk of getting "fuzzy" backups that may not
have full data integrity.
If you can afford to bring your server down each time you run
a backup, then you could use the file-level BA client to do
your backups. But, you would also lose the ability to do
point-in-time restores which TDP for Lotus Domino provides.
The "atomic" backup unit is at the database level (.NSF file).
Thanks,
Del

Subject: tdp for lotus domino
hello
i'm gonna move my adsm 3.1 server to a brand new tivoli 4.1 (on aix) and
add tivoli data protection for lotus domino on an nt box
i'd appreciate any feedback concerning _actual_ advantages of backing
domino with tdp instead of just doing a file-level backup, in terms of
speed and volume. what is the "atomic" backup unit : .nsf bases or smaller
parts ?
of course you can also tell me about known issues !
thanks a lot
