You might also check on processes running on the system. You may have a
excdsmc process hanging in the background. If that is the case, if you
can't End Task that process, you can use the ResKit utility KILL to kill it
using its PID.

The error indicates exactly the problem. The Exchange Server
is indicating that a backup is currently active.
Now, it could happen that you stopped a backup in the middle
of its run and that nothing is running...but it still
thinks there is... This eventually times out (I think 4 minutes).
You can watch the Event Log and see the timeout occur.
Other than that, you should check to make sure you are
not running another backup that you don't know about.
Again, if you view the Event Log, you can see
the all backup processes starting and stopping.

When i perform a full backup for DIR and IS, return the following error (i
