Hi !

I am running a 3494 with 6 drives allocated to NT/Unix(HP) world (*)
machines) and 2 drives allocated to AS4/00(4 machines).

NT/Unix world is running through TSM 3.7.3 located on a H80 AIX machine.
AS4/00 is accessing the 3493 as a single device through BRMS.

3493 is a wonderful library, running under OS/2 and having its own
database which is very easy when you want to know if a tape is in the
robot or not, it's just a quick request to the 3494 which answers
immediately without having to scan the whole library to be sure.

Evrything is working fine mixing this environment. The problems or
needed workarounds are due to the TSM software which still contains some
bugs but nothing due to the 3493 library.

Subject: 3494 Help

Hi All,

We're currently looking at getting a new, to replace our full up
3575s.Either a 3494 - which as our budget only runs to a second user
model, support will be at a minimal, or possibly an ADIC Scalar 1000. Is
anybody using either one in a mixed environment (Aix, NT,Novell -
ADIC/Mainframe,AIX, NT - 3494), any pointers on implementation, anything
to look out for? We've currently got ADSM 3.1 running on an SP (AIX
4.3.1/3)

OT - It looks like outsourcing is on the agenda, by a company called
CGI.
As they're new to the UK, nobody here has had any experience of them.
Anybody dealt with them, for good or bad? ( I think they're called
Certis
in Europe)

TIA
