If the data is not available from a primary storage pool volume and the copy
pool volume with the data on it is available...
without any intervention, the data will be retrieved from the copy pool
volume (if/when the client requests it)

to get the data back into the primary storage pool, you would need to
recreate the primary storage pool volumes with the "restore volume" command.

Subject: restore of primary storage pool from copy storage pool question
???

have primary storage pool with 4 volumes, have copy storage pool with 4
volumes.

situation: will be testing our os390 system including adsm restoration
at our disaster
recovery site. would like to leave the primary storage pool volumes at
my production
site and take only the copy storage pool tapes to the disaster site.

question 1 : can files be restored directly from copy storage pool
volumes or do they have to
be restored to primary storage pool volumes first

question 2 : if i marked the 4 primary storage pool volumes as damaged
once i was at
the disaster site would the restore storage pool
command then recreate
4 new primary storage pool tapes or would the 4 copy
storage pool tapes just get.
flagged as primary without an actual copy being
done...
