Not sure now many new people are here, but if you ever miss things like strace, just be aware that plan 9 and 9front have alternatives.
I wrote ratrace, long ago, and still find it useful, so that's my goto tracer; paper here. https://5e.iwp9.org/slides/ratracetalk.pdf the idea for ratrace came from vx32, and the basic ratrace output format later appears in google's gvisor, and from there in the u-root strace tool (since I implemented the gvisor and u-root versions) Plan 9's ratrace tool is 214 lines. For people new to Plan 9, it might make interesting reading.
