There's nothing inherently multiple core about it, and adding multicore support is probably not even that difficult. It just needs someone who cares to roll up their sleeves and write (probably a couple of hundred) lines of code.
I think the trickier part will be in exposing it to the VMs, and not in making vmx able to create a couple of mappings with '#X'.
