I don't know why you told TUHS that 9front is unmaintained; it is maintained and in fact developed. Our source code repository is at http://git.9front.org/plan9front/plan9front/HEAD/info.html We have working heredocs and error messages with line numbers, in case the Plan 9 distributions want that.
