i've noticed that a few folks have been having trouble with 9atom sources. the attach point for the atom sources is not the empty string, it's atom. the empty string will mount the internal file system.
here's a snippet from my 9fs where nflag=-n.

srv $nflag -q tcp!atom.9atom.org atom &&
mount $nflag /srv/atom /n/atom atom
