I had this happen to me a few times but I never took the time to track it down. I haven't had it happen since I upgraded my kernel to 3.1. We seem to have very simliar setups so you might want to try that and see if it makes a difference. $ uname -mp i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7400 @ 2.16GHz $ pacman -Q linux linux 3.1.1-1 $ > P.S.: Sorry for my English.
