[9fans] How do I get a C compiler and what ever else I need to run p9p on an intel Mac w/ 10.6.6?

It seems that the only way to get the compiler is to become a MAC 
Developer. True?

All I want are the plan9 user basics - shell, sam, acme, compiler - 
plus ready access to a browser. I don't have the need or talent to 
write  GUI applications.

Will someone kindly suggest the easiest way to get plan9 port running 
non an intel mac w/10.6.6?
