I guess there would be less resistance if contrib (by a more appopriate name, I think fgb concurs here) was part of the base distribution. I haven't had occasion to use contrib myself and the only qualm I have is that trying to access an ISO image remotely is going to be painful (please tell me I'm wrong) at the end of a 64kbps Internet link. ++L
