how is this less work than fixing or removing
broken packages?  that problem needs to be
dealt with one way or the other.

also this method is unwieldy with a many user
system.  even on a single user system, doesn't it
suck when you can find a few programs that
are in your own bin?

would you extend this to groups of users?
(please say no!)

been there.  (late 80s.  mt xinu bsd.)  done that.
