i'm taking a look at some i82566 quirks that may be bios related.
this is complicated by the fact that i don't have such a machine.
82566 is the gbe controller integrated into many intel ich8
southbridges. (the thinkpad t61 in particular.) these device
ids are of interest:
case 0x1049: /* mm */
case 0x104a: /* dm */
case 0x104d: /* v */
if you are currently using such a beast, successfully or not, i
would appreciate the output of
cat /dev/kmesg
